Here are the answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What should I bring?
If you are digitizing your photos please bring up to 250 photos and a USB Thumb Drive / Memory Stick.
(We will also have memory sticks available for $5.00)
If you are coming for help with your family history you need to bring your smart phone, iPad or tablet.
(If you do not have a mobile device we will provide one for you to use while in the class.)
Do I have to show up at 6:00 and how long do I have to stay?
There is no specific start time. As soon as you arrive you will be paired with a family history assistant, and they will help you depending on your specific needs.
What should I wear?
Casual dress is welcome.
Are these classes for me?
The simple answer is yes. Our classes are absolutely for you! We offer help to people of all skill levels. Whether you are someone just starting out and have never worked on family history, or if you are a bit more advanced and would like help furthering your family history research. For those starting out, we will begin with assistance in creating an account on the “Family Search” App & logging in, and will continue with teaching you how to build your family tree, find missing ancestors generations back and everything in between.
What family history program do you use?
We primarily use the Family Search / Family tree app. We also offer help with connecting your family tree to other programs as well, including, Ancestry, My Heritage, Find my Past, and others.
Is there any costs for these classes?
These classes are completely FREE and taught by volunteers. We want to help connect your family to the past to add strength to your families future.
How old do you have to be to attend?
We encourage all those that are 8 and older to attend and have their own Family Search account. Although no one will be asked to leave we do ask that you leave younger children at home so we can best assist those that come to receive help.
